The Maritime Cluster of the Canary Islands, within the framework of the SMARTBLUE and INTERPORT projects included in the INTERREG-MAC 2014-2020 programmes, participates, with its own exhibitor, in the 12th edition of the International Fair of Canagua&Energía 2018 that takes place in INFECAR (The Fair institution of the Canary Islands) from the 4th to the 6th of October 2018.

Launched by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and organized by INFECAR, Canagua & Energía aims to place the archipelago as a point of reference for clean energy at an international level, giving recognition to energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy for the production of electricity, heat and water. In addition, it tries to facilitate business opportunities between specialized visitors and exhibiting companies, leading to commercial agreements around the blue economy for Gran Canaria. New models of generation, efficiency, desalination, water reuse, investment, promotion and collaboration within the binomial water and energy are exposed.

Canagua & Energía 2018 had the participation of many visitors, professionals and the general public. The first two days, on Thursday 4 and Friday 5 October, the relevant companies in the sector presented their latest news and innovations. On the third day, Saturday 6, many visitors from the general public, especially families, expressed interest in energy saving in homes.

The event had important novelties in the development of clean energy, especially companies related to offshore wind power generation and geothermal energy. In addition, international speakers participated.

The Maritime Cluster of the Canary Islands successfully participated in this edition and intends to attend future editions, in which the blue economy sector is recognized in the framework of the island’s environmental sustainability, identifying energy and water as indispensable resources that must be attended efficiently.
